Fall Commissions!

Nearly done with two pieces, wanted to share the progress. (These are cropped from the originals) I really don't like monkeys! When I was asked to do a monkey character I knew it was going to be a matter of pushing myself to draw something I normally stay away from. But... I had fun with it. =)
Working in Photoshop + wacom tablet.

  1. Hi Jill -- thanks for sharing these. Are you illustrating for a book? I like the youthful urban look you gave him. Congrats on your commi$$ions!

  2. Thanks Sheri, the monkey was based off of the client's friend... who is a lighting technician and is occasionally seen hanging from pipes to fix theatre lighting. The blue piece was a request for a relaxing/haven type scene. I can't wait to present these =)

  3. He's got personality -- which is challenging to 'draw'. Can't wait to see the finished product.

  4. I love the blue dusk / evening scene! That deep intense blue pallete is one of my favorites! I have gazed at a lot of night views for hours that looked similar! If you ever want to spend the night watching the moon swim across the sky over Cayuga Lake from a cliff under a primordial looking ancient tree sitting on a natural rock easychair, give me a shout!

  5. Love the blue - I never liked blue that much for some reason, but things are changing.

Lovely Jill! Congrats on the commissions!

Sheri - can I join you? I would love to do this, Gilbert is not amenable to late night forays unfortunately...

  6. Ursula.... Frank posted the evening sky gathering idea. But I'm game. Dusk is my favorite time of day.

  7. Hi GVA friends, let's have a late afternoon into Eve. GVA meeting at my Sacred View of Cayuga Lake space on a cliff in the woods in Lansing. We could create art. Watch the sun set, watch a moon rise and be one with nature and each other! It has to be in early Nov. as I think it's deer hunting season now! :-)
